Acceptable Use Policy
Reloquent — RLQ API
Effective date: 2026-06-09 Last updated: 2026-06-09
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses the RLQ API. It exists to keep the service reliable for all customers and to keep us in good standing with the data sources we depend on. Capitalized terms have the meanings given in the Terms.
Rate limits and quotas
Each plan has a per-minute request-rate limit and a monthly request allowance. You must not:
- Exceed or attempt to circumvent your rate limit or monthly allowance — for example by sharing a key across unrelated workloads, creating multiple accounts or rotating keys to evade caps, or distributing requests to disguise volume.
- Use automated retries in a way that hammers the API after receiving a
429response; honor theRetry-Aftersignal and back off.
If you need more capacity, upgrade your plan or contact us about an enterprise arrangement.
Reselling and redistribution of the data
The value of RLQ is the curated spatial database behind it, much of which is licensed to us under terms that flow through to you. You must not:
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute raw API responses as a standalone or bulk dataset, or use the API to reconstruct, scrape, or mirror a substantial portion of our database or any underlying source.
- Build or offer a product whose principal purpose is to re-expose RLQ results as a competing enrichment or data API.
Using results as enrichment within your own application is exactly what the service is for and is encouraged; redistributing the underlying data as data is not.
Attribution and data-source licenses
You must preserve the attributions specified on our Data Sources & Attribution page whenever you display, publish, or redistribute enriched results, and you must comply with the underlying licenses (including, for OpenStreetMap-derived results, crediting ”© OpenStreetMap contributors”). Stripping or obscuring required credit is a violation of this AUP.
Misuse of contact information in results
Some results include third-party contact details such as a place’s name, phone number, website, or address. You must not use this information to send spam or unsolicited marketing, to harass, or to compile or sell a contact or marketing list. Use it only to enrich and contextualize locations within your application.
Misuse of location data
You must not use the API to stalk, track, surveil, or determine the location or movements of a specific individual without a lawful basis and that person’s rights respected, or in any way that violates privacy, anti-stalking, or data protection laws.
Lawful use and platform integrity
You must not use the API to:
- Violate any law or regulation, or infringe anyone’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights.
- Probe, scan, overload, or attempt to breach or disrupt the API, our infrastructure, or our other customers’ use of the service.
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code or non-public components of the service, except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Submit malware, or input intended to exploit, corrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
- Misrepresent your identity, impersonate others, or use the service to deceive.
Safety-critical and high-risk uses
As stated in the Terms, RLQ data is informational and may be inaccurate or out of date. You must not use it as the sole basis for navigation, emergency or dispatch decisions, safety-of-life systems, or legal determinations of property ownership, boundaries, or access rights.
Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and may rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access — with notice where practicable, and immediately for severe abuse, legal risk, or threats to the service or the data sources. We may also be required to report certain unlawful activity. Suspension or termination for a violation does not entitle you to a refund. If you discover a vulnerability or believe someone is misusing the service, contact security@reloquent.ai.
